Work from home
When I have extreme deadlines and need to focus, I work from home
to avoid distractions.
Cellphone Do Not Disturb
I will turn on DND
on my cell and tell anyone that I will
take a call from to call my phone
TWICE if they need me!
Mute Emails
Turn off notifications on emails and set a
timer to look every 30 minutes. This
ensures important emails are not
missed.
Make a List
I will create a to-do list for the day and
week. Anything I don't get finished
in the day I move to anotehr day that
week.
Say NO
I will put a note on my door to not
distrupt me unless extremely urgent. I
also post times I will make myself avaialbel during
the day.
Block Calendar
I take the time to block my calendar for items I need to accomplish – i.e.,
reviewing timeclock, process
payroll, lunchbreaks, etc.
I mix up difficult and simple tasks so that I
can take a break from challenging projects
and mix it in with uncomplicated
projects!
I take a look at my to-do list and determine if I do a certain project, will I be able to finish it before the deadline of another? If not, I shift that project
so it fits within my timeline and deadlines.
How urgent is the project? Is it urgent to one person and not another?
I sometimes have to choose who I'm going to "upset" as many things are priorities to some but not to others. Because of this, I really need to look at what the higher priority is as a whole.
