The purpose of this project is to develop a business case for the development a EDRMS that will increase the efficiency of an organization. Create a short profile for a small organization of your own choice showing the type of business (e.g., dentist office or a real estate business), the size of the business, the number of employees (i.e., users of the proposed EDRMS) and where they are located. Describe the type of documents and records that are currently kept and whether they are manual or electronic. Refer to the Project Proposal assignment for more detailed requirements. Based on the project definition, prepare a business case which includes the following elements: 1. Executive summary highlighting the key points in the business case, such as important benefits and the potential return on investment 2. Business opportunity describing the motivation for the project including a definition, a statement of scope, and a discussion of objectives that the project will help the organization achieve 3. Assumptions, listing all assumptions for requirements 4. Document conversion or migration strategy (e.g., paper to paperless, local server to cloud, etc.) 5. Metadata requirements (with definitions of the metadata to be collected/generated) 6. Alternatives for a solution. Need to provide at least 3 optional solutions and each solution should have a list of combination of software, hardware, cloud service etc. when applicable. Then come up with a recommendation of the optimal solution with justification.

You will need to post your proposal by Mar. 17th (Thur.) and your comments on or replies to your classmates’ proposal by Mar. 20 th (Sun.) Presentation You need to prepare a recording of your presentation based on your written report and post it in Week 16 Discussion on April 28th . Written report Your written report (business case) should cover all the items (1-10) listed above. Any violation of academic integrity will result in a zero grade for this assignment. The important aspect is the assumptions you may make, and keeping the logic coherently between the assumptions, estimates, and conclusions. Your report should be comprehensive but also concise. It is better if you could select a business of which you have firsthand experience or one that you can provide the details, how and why you would recommend the chosen EDRMS solutions, and any obstacles (from the records management perspective) that might be faced throughout the project. Include costs when they are readily available e.g., on the vendor’s web site. Last but not least, please do not resubmit the same report that you have done for another class, if any. Formatting requirements for the word document: • Your submission should be a minimum of 12 double-spaced pages of text. Additional pages of figures, references and appendices are not included in the 12 pages. • Your submission should be submitted as a Microsoft Word file or PDF file. All text in the manuscript should be double spaced, with a 1 inch margin on all four sides. The paper size should be set to ‘Letter’ (8.5 inches X 11 inches). Manuscripts should be prepared in Times New Roman Font, Font size 12. • Your submission will be uploaded to Turnitin to check for plagiarism, and we will take points off for any similarity index above 25%. • Citation: APA 7.0 format (both in-text citations and bibliography should follow the APA requirement).
